Obtaining the skills taught in our Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) class is incredibly important for several reasons. First and foremost, it equips you with the knowledge and abilities to handle high-risk or advanced situations that may arise in out-of-hospital care or hostile environments. These skills can make a critical difference in saving lives and minimizing further harm.
The class covers a wide range of essential topics that are crucial for anyone involved in emergency response. You will learn how to assess scene safety, identify different types and classes of bleeding, and understand basic human vascular anatomy. This knowledge enables you to effectively treat bleeds in various areas of the body, including extremities, joints, torso, and head.
We emphasize the importance of being prepared by teaching you what to stock in an IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) and how to use the items in it. You will also learn alternative techniques and strategies if an IFAK is not available. This level of preparedness ensures that you are equipped to handle emergencies with limited resources.
This class goes beyond theoretical knowledge and incorporates hands-on training. You will practice casualty movement and evacuation techniques, as well as the application of tourniquets and chest seals. Proper MARCH Assessment, which focuses on the management of massive bleeding, airway compromise, respiration issues, circulatory compromise, and hypothermia, is also covered.
Finally, this class addresses threat assessment considerations, such as active shooter situations, mass casualty incidents, and vehicle accidents. Understanding how to navigate these complex scenarios is crucial for first responders and prepared citizens.
Overall, we believe this is a necessary class for anyone that could be in an environment targeted by acts of violence or even just stuck in traffic where multi-car collisions occur. This isn’t a class you want to miss.
